Yeah my first version of this album was on Cassette with the proper UK tracklisting (inc to the shore), then on Vinyl, then eventually 2xCD. It was the CDs where they starting sticking ISSISK on but I do recall the US vinyl (like Rio) being slightly different too? As it was released a year or two later there than the UK I think, or re-released globally after Rio became so successful.

Secret Oktober and Late bar are my two favourite DD B-sides.

Also have some lyrics books from back then among many other DD items, as a once obsessed pre/early teen DD fan :)

I’ve got both versions of this album on CD, so I’ve got To the Shore.

I probably tossed the cassette of Rio, but I remember My Own Way and Hold Back the Rain were different between it and the CD. I recently learned that the A-side of Rio was remixed and the album was re-released.

One of my all-time favorite songs is Secret Oktober. I just love it.

I’ve also got Simon’s Book of Words (I think it’s called) with the lyrics up through the third album.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. I totally agree with your comments on this album. I will forever crave what might have happened (or better yet, COULD happen) if Duran & Depeche ever “mixed it up” in the studio. They could call the collaboration, “Under Dureche.”

my previous comment in this post about Twitter/Facebook has been deleted. It was about my uselessness at using them consistently and always worrying that my posts were nothing but fluff/pointless, not about other people interacting with/helping me etc (which I always appreciate).
